The most popular question I get asked is \u201cHow long did it take you to write your book?\u201d For my first book that is an easy answer. It took me well over 300 hours to complete.<\/p>\n

This is what one particular sketching session looked like<\/p>\n

From this point once I had all the sketches inked onto tracing paper, I then scanned them and imported into Illustrator to convert them into vector images. The vector images can then be scaled up or down without becoming pixelated. I then inserted the word images and floral images into each page in Microsoft Publisher.<\/p>\n

Once that step was completed and all the pages were the way I envisioned them, I saved it as a PDF to upload for publishing.<\/p>\n

When I was ready to begin the process for my second book I had been able to purchase an IPad Pro. This was a total game changer for me. I was now able to draw an entire page at once, save it as an image and then insert it into my Microsoft Publisher file. This saved me so much time and paper. I went through at least 100 sheets of graph paper and 100 sheets of tracing paper for my first book. I still sketch with pencil and a sketchbook as there is just something soothing about listening to the sound of the pencil on the paper as I draw. But my IPad lets me be creative no matter where I am without all the extra accessories I carry with my sketch book. I mean let\u2019s be honest, I have a pencil case crammed with pens and various pencils. Another one with colored pencils. Erasers….yes I said erasers because I can\u2019t have just one type. Whereas my Apple Pencil fits into a case that slips onto my iPad and that\u2019s it I am good to go.<\/p>\n
