Self care

I had so many plans for today. However just as I was getting my morning started I got really cold. I mean my feet were ice cold. So I turned the a/c up to 75 and was still ice cold so I thought I will just crawl under the covers for a bit and the get started on my day. Two hours later I was still cold and a bit achy. Not to mention quite disappointed that I didn’t feel good enough to work on any of the projects I had planned for the day. Finally by 12:15 I gave in and called the YW to let them know I wouldn’t be teaching today, I just couldn’t fathom getting in the pool as cold as I was. I curled back up with every blanket I could find, closed my eyes and said a little prayer. Two and a half hours later I woke up thirsty and hungry. I was still a bit achy but no longer ice cold.

So many people I know don’t listen to their body and push on when they really need to take a step back and let their body rest and heal. For as long as I can remember when I get over tired I run a low grade fever. If I stop and rest it usually passes very quickly. When I don’t listen and keep pressing on I end up sick for weeks.

No project or deadline is more important than your health. Listen to your body and heed its warnings. You can always pick back up tomorrow.
